During the SMC / BMC compression molding process, it is important to pay attention to controlling the "3 points", which are also the most important three elements. That is the control of molding temperature, molding pressure and molding time.
1) Molding temperature control
Molding temperature is the mold temperature specified during molding. This process parameter determines the heat transfer conditions of the mold to the material in the cavity and has a decisive influence on the melting, flow and solidification process of the material.
2) Molding pressure control
The molding pressure is usually expressed by MPa, that is, the ratio of the total force exerted on the mold by the FRP hydraulic press and the projected area of the mold cavity in the pressing direction. The role of the molding pressure in the molding process is to close the mold tightly and increase the density of the material, and to promote the flow of the melt and balance the pressure generated by the volatilization of low-molecular substances in the mold cavity. Molding material with large compression rate consumes more energy when it is densified, so higher molding pressure is required for molding, so the pressure of the molded bulk material is higher than that of the molded blank, and the pressure for SMC / BMC molded material is higher than that of molded powder.
3) Molding time control
The determination of the molding time is related to the curing rate of the SMC / BMC molding compound, the shape and wall thickness of the product, the structure of the mold, the molding temperature and the molding pressure, as well as various factors such as whether venting is required during pre-pressing, pre-heating and molding. Among all these factors, the molding temperature, product wall thickness and preheating conditions have the most significant influence on the molding time.
